Here is the base of the coop. Its designed to be pulled around the property to give the girls more variety. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>

Lookin good... my chicks are almost ready to start laying. Only lost one runt roo in the batch, all the others, 13 hens and 1 roo are doing great.

Built the nest boxes this week, we are ready to go!

The chick on the water bottle looks like it might be roo, just a guess.

Did you get straight run or pullets only?

When I see posts like this it makes me anxious to get my chickens! I'm envious of you guys that have a place for chickens. I can't wait to get my house on acreage and a place for chickens!

Nice job on the coop, any more pictures?

Re: Chickens and Chicken coop construction

The feed store that we bought them from said they were all Pullets but I have my suspicions that several of them are Roos. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
I guess the next wall will need a door. <o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Ive been cutting and nailing all day long and have not thought of where the door will go. <o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
And then I have also not come up with the roof design yet. <o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
I have plenty of this same size lumber to make trusses and lay plywood on top of just unsure of the degree and how much plywood it will take to cover it. <o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Looking down from the top it will be 8ft by 8ft and the walls are 6ft high. <o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Coop floor will be 1/2 hardware cloth and there will be a few upper loft areas where the laying boxes will be.

We also picked up another pair of real young ones, One called a easter Egger and a Barred rock.

Pics of those chicks as I get them.

How did the coop turn out Strawman?

Re: Chickens and Chicken coop construction

Sorry for the time lag The finished coop is well not 100% finished other things came up and I just laid some 1x12 planks across the top and also put a skylight in for them.

IE not enough 1x12 planks to cover the whole top area.

A few months ago.

This house is for a pair of chickens my wife (CLWOL) picked out a month or so after getting the original bunch of RIR's.

Check back later tonight time permitting I will update this post showing the roof I made for this thing.
